Clearlake >> 40 & 8 Voiture 912 of Lake County will sell hot dogs to raise money for nurses training, youth and sports, and flag Appreciation for First Graders programs, on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Foods, Etc. in Clearlake.
40 & 8 is an organization for veterans and active service military personnel that was founded during World War I by a U.S. soldier who served in France. “40 & 8” is a reference to markings on the side of the “voitures,” or train cars, used to move troops throughout France, and refers to the number of people (40) or horses (8) that could fit in each car. Membership is by invitation only.
