ST. HELENA >> Eleven Lake County Channel Cat swimmers recently journeyed to St. Helena to participate in the “Endless Summer” swim meet hosted by the St. Helena Waves.

Maddy Madrzyk and Brooke Hinchcliff — the youngest swimmers representing the Cats — competed in the age 9-10 girls’ division. Madrzyk finished first in the 100-yard individual medley, 50 backstroke and 200 individual medley. Hinchcliff finished as high as 13th in the 50 breaststroke.

Competing in the 11-12 age bracket, Jadyn Copas finished as high as 18th in the 50 freestyle.

Four Channel Cats competed in the 13-14 age bracket — Emma Larson, Danielle Erickson, Mikayla Parrott and Isis Martinez. Larson earned first-place honors in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and the 400 individual medley. Erickson finished as high as second in the 400 individual medley and third in the 500 freestyle. Parrott placed ninth in the 100 freestyle while Martinez came in third in the 50 freestyle.

Lauren Rudnick, Nikki Hanson, Diego Tejeda and Max Madrzyk competed in the 15-16 age group. Rudnick earned wins in the 200 backstroke, 100 butterfly, 200 individual medley and 400 individual medley. Hanson placed first in the 50, 100, 200 and 500 freestyle events. Tejeda won the 200 breaststroke and 50 freestyle. Madrzyk added firsts in the 200 individual medley, 200 backstroke and 500 freestyle.

The Lake County Channel Cats have started their fall swim season and will be swimming through the month of November. The competitive swimmers will be preparing for swim meets in both Sebastopol and Fort Bragg later in the fall. The team also has swimmers who are in the water for recreational swim practice.
