BOONVILLE >> The Clear Lake Cardinals ran into an old preseason nemesis, the Anderson Valley Panthers, during a non-league varsity volleyball match on Thursday evening in Boonville.
And Anderson Valley still has the Cardinals’ number, winning 25-20, 25-19, 25-19.
“We gave ‘em 40 errors with our hitting and serving,” Clear Lake coach Marci Psalmonds said. “You can’t spot a team like Anderson Valley the first two games. We beat ourselves.”
Valerie Hutton, a junior varsity call-up at the middle hitter position, is likely to stay with the varsity after a couple of impressive performances, including an 11-kill, two-block night against Anderson Valley.
“I was impressed with her play,” Psalmonds said.
Rachel Wingler added seven kills.
Clear Lake did win the junior varsity match 25-20, 25-12 behind eight kills from Corin Alakszay and three kills and six assists from Kylie Udy.
