PETALUMA >> The Lower Lake Trojans, at least for a set, showed what they are capable of doing against a quality opponent. Trouble is, it was just one set.
St. Vincent High School of Petaluma beat Lower Lake 25-14, 22-25, 25-14, 25-19 in non-league varsity volleyball action on Thursday in Lower Lake.
Ashlynn Mock and Jolean Scarborough led the team on defense, combining for 53 digs. They added two kills apiece. Brooke Taliaferro had two kills and three aces and Cedalia Schofield also had two kills.
“That second game, the girls were playing really, really well,” Lower Lake coach Darcie Schmidt said.
The Trojans (1-4) reverted back to some bad habits in the third and fourth sets, according to Schmidt.
St. Vincent also won the junior varsity match 25-20, 25-15.
Lower Lake returns to action next Thursday at home against Calistoga.
