UPDATED:

Beit Chavurah’s High Holyday services are here, and start this Sunday.

Erev Rosh Hashanah 5776 will be celebrated on Sept. 13 starting at 7 p.m. The Rosh Hashanah Evening service begins the Jewish New Year. It is a joyous, festive service and includes the blowing of the Shofar. There will be an “Oneg” and Kiddush following the service; people are encouraged to bring a little “nosh” — i.e., something to eat.

The Kol Nidrei service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. This is a beautiful, prayerful service and includes the chanting of the Kol Nidrei prayer by Rabbi and Ba’al Tefilah, Rich Altman. Yom Kippur is a day of fasting, so there will not be an “Oneg” or Kiddush following the service.

Please try to arrive to both events at least 15 minutes early.

This year, Beit Chavurah will again be requesting Holiday donations for the Lev LaLev Girls’ Orphanage in Israel. You can check their website at www.levlalev.com. If you wish to mail a check for this, please make it out to “Richard Altman.” You can either drop it in the Tzedakah box at services or mail it to Richard Altman, PO Box 4388, Clearlake, CA 95422.

The goal again this year is “TEN CHAI” or $180 dollars, which we have been able to achieve in the last three out of four years. The congregation was able to send “FIFTEEN CHAI” ($270) last year.
