Hoberg’s Resort on Cobb Mountain was destroyed in the Valley Fire on Saturday afternoon.

“Our hearts go out to people who also suffered the incredible loss of their homes and businesses within our community,” said Dan Nelson, Vice President of Lake County Partners. “It is our goal to respect and stay true to the spirit of Hoberg’s.”

This historic resort, once an exquisite 53-acre mountain top property in Lake County California, was founded in 1885 as a lodge with a few cottages, and grew to be one of the largest privately owned resorts in California. At its peak in the 1950s, Hoberg’s hosted more than 1,000 guests a night. The resort was purchased in the mid-1970s by the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi who gained worldwide fame and wealth from his association with Beatles. For almost forty years,

Hoberg’s became a remote location for training in transcendental meditation until its sale. Current ownership, Lake County Partners, purchased Hoberg’s in April of 2014 and were in the process of renovating the property.
