Kelseyville street dance will raise funds

The regular Kickin’ in the Country street dance in downtown Kelseyville, set for Thursday night at 7 p.m., has a new twist. In a desire to raise funds to aid Valley Fire victims, organizers are asking people to attend and to bring cash donations.

All funds collected at the event will go to the Lake County Chapter of the American Red Cross to help victims recover from the devastating fire.

The Funky Dozen is scheduled to perform. The band is reportedly donating their fee to a band member who lost a home.

The dance runs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Main Street in Kelseyville.

New shelter opens, welcomes volunteers

The Seventh Day Adventist Church in Lakeport has opened to shelter and feed fire evacuees and welcome both those in need and volunteers.

“We have capability to handle tent camping in front of the church, and put some people up in the fellowship hall,” said pastor Randy Brehms. “We are serving breakfast, lunch and supper. We also have some RV’s behind the church.”

Space for evacuees is available and they are accepting people until they fill up.

Church members and local residents have donated so many items for those in need that the church could use volunteers to help sort materials.

The church is located at 1111 Park Way at Hill Road in Lakeport, just off Hwy. 29. The phone number is 707-263-6002.

Delivering aid

UPS and the Teamsters sent a full semi truck load of supplies to the county, with more promised to follow. The first truck arrived in Lakeport on Tuesday afternoon.
