Valerie Hutton, sophomore middle hitter for the Clear Lake Cardinals, earned an early season promotion from the junior varsity ranks to the varsity club where she’s now a fixture in the starting lineup for coach Marci Psalmonds’ squad. She served up a storm on Thursday as the Cardinals blitzed the Upper Lake Cougars 25-8, 25-12, 25-12 in non-league action at Upper Lake. Hutton had four kills and two blocks to go along with her team-leading 11 aces.
