
Clearlake >> The Democratic Party of Lake County will hold the 22nd annual Democratic Legislator’s Barbecue on Sunday, Oct. 4 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Highlands Senior Center.
The Party is honored to host current California State Controller Betty Yee as the keynote speaker. Yee has over 30 years of experience in public service, specializing in state and local finance and tax policy. She previously served as Chief Deputy Director for Budget with the California Department of Finance, where she led the development of the Governor’s Budget, negotiations with the Legislature and key budget stakeholders, and fiscal analyses of legislation on behalf of the Administration. Prior to this, she served in senior staff positions for several fiscal and policy committees in both houses of the California State Legislature.
Yee currently serves on the board of directors for the Equality California Institute. She is a cofounder of the Asian Pacific Youth Leadership Project, which exposes California high school youth to the public service, public policy, and political arenas.
Legislative guest speakers Congress Member Mike Thompson, State Senator Mike McGuire and Assembly Member Bill Dodd will be on hand to greet and address our guests.
The menu for the event includes tri-tip, sides, homemade desserts and Lake County wine. David Neft will provide the music, and gifts and goods from Lake County businesses will be available to bid upon in a silent auction.
Individual tickets are $25 per person for seniors 55 and older, $35 for general admission and $20 for students. Children younger than five attend for free. Sponsorships levels are available.
