New Valley Fire Public Information and Support Hotline Announced
A new hotline (1-888-565-2787) has been established to help provide Lake County residents with updated Valley Fire information and support, including completing a damage assessment survey. Residents are also encouraged to review www.lakecountylac.com for updated news and information before calling.
Damage inspection information available
Lake County, in conjunction with Cal Fire began providing damage inspection information to residents of the communities of Middletown, Hidden Valley, Cobb Mountain and the surrounding areas on Saturday. Keep in mind this is an initial list of parcels on which structures were either damaged or destroyed that have been confirmed by Cal Fire Damage Inspection Teams who are inspecting each parcel. As teams continue to survey the fire area and additional data is collected and confirmed, additional information will be provided.
A map of the affected areas with a list of confirmed damaged or destroyed structures will be available at www.lakecountylac.com.
“As we anticipate the number of homes destroyed to rise, we are making social and mental health services available for those affected,” said Rob Brown, Lake County District 5 Supervisor.
“One of our priorities is to release the information as soon as possible and to ensure support services are available for our community,” added Matt Perry, Lake County Administrative Officer. “Numerous county and state resources have been working around the clock since the start of the Valley Fire to assist those impacted.”
More information about services may be found at www.lakecountylac.com. There is also a tollfree number to call at 800-325-9604. Please check the Lake County OES Facebook page and Twitter account throughout the day for updated information.
Rotary Clubs continue relief efforts
The Valley Fire is the latest fire that has added to the devastation from the Rocky and Jerusalem Fires, which now have burned over 160,000 acres in Lake County, and we all have been personally touched by this disaster. The Rotary clubs of Lake County, consisting of Middletown, Clearlake, Kelseyville and Lakeport, are well positioned to help those in need. All four Lake County Rotary clubs will work closely together to determine how to best distribute the donated funds. We have all opened our homes and continue to do what we can to help those with immediate needs, but the days, weeks, and months ahead are when some big challenges will unfold. Donations have started to come in. As an example, members of the Susanville club came to Lake County to donate $5,000 and a private donor has donated $35,000 to the relief effort.
We are encouraging anyone who is interested to send their donations to the Lakeport Rotary Valley Fire Relief Fund, or donations can be made online by going to the web site www.lakeportrotary.org. Simply click on the “DONATE” tab. All funds will be used for the relief effort for the recent fires in Lake County.
