Lakeport >> Two very bright former Kelseyville High School students, Luis Perez and Herminio Espinoza, are now attending college with a bit of extra help from the Christine Hanson Memorial Scholarship. Each young man was awarded $1,000 at graduation this year in June. Perez, who is the first Kelseyville Latino to graduate as valedictorian of the class, is attending UC Davis. Espinoza attends Mendocino College with a goal of later entering U.C. Berkeley.
The Christine Hanson Scholarship Committee will have a craft booth at the coming Pear Festival on Saturday, Sept. 26. We will be located on Main St. in Kelseyville near Annie’s Bakery. Many dedicated ladies have been sewing and crafting during the year. We will also raffle off a special fall quilt donated by Judy Fletcher of Lakeport and three surprise items donated by local craft persons. Join us to help send another two exceptional students to college in 2016.
