A great community
On September 18 I went to Safeway in Lakeport to do some shopping. When I approached the meat counter two men who were covered in ash and wearing PG&E vests, looking very tired were waiting for the meat they had ordered.
After I had asked them where they were from (Napa) and what it was like out there where they had been working (which they nicely described to me), I looked at the butcher and jokingly said, “you should give them a Big discount.” And to my surprise the butcher had already done just that as he printed out the price sticker.
The two men were surprised at how much the discount was and said to me that Lake County’s community is one of the best communities they have ever worked for during a disaster. I looked up at the butcher with a big smile and gave him a thumbs-up.
As I preceded through the store to do my shopping I came upon three firemen who I later learned are from Eureka, and as I thanked them for all they have done for us in Lake County they also told me how great out community has been to them and that we are one of the best communities they have even worked for in a disaster. Well, as you can probably guess I was beaming with pride being a member of this community.
I want to thank, not only the wonderful men and women fighting this fire for us, but also all of the fantastic people who are pulling together, as a community to help take care of all of the people involved in this disaster. And thank you for making me proud to live I Lake County and being a part of this great community.

A note to my patients
I want to share a bit of news with you- not the good kind. As you know, I was planning on retiring by the end of the year. This in itself was a difficult decision. I have practiced medicine in Lake County for 33 years and have been with Dr. Dhanda for 15 years. I love my job and my co-workers but most of all you, my patients.
The first part of July I was diagnosed with uterine cancer. I have had surgery and two rounds of chemotherapy so far. I have a wonderful team caring for me and I feel positive about my outcome. I feel that since my departure was so abrupt I wanted to explain the reason. We have a wonderful team at Specialty Care and Surgery Center and I will miss being a part of it. I have felt privileged that you have entrusted your women’s health care to me.
Sincerely,
Quincy C. Andrus, PA
