Lakeport >> The Lake County Land Trust has announced that its annual benefit dinner will be held as scheduled on Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Lakeside Campus of Marymount University in Lucerne.

“As we all grapple with the aftermath of the Valley Fire, our gathering can not only be the usual ‘friend raiser,’ but also a celebration of our determination to thrive after calamity,” stated Land Trust board member Roberta Lyons. “The charred landscape presents the land trust with new challenges. We now have an even more profound understanding of our landscape’s ability to impact our population. We can exercise our generosity to those who have suffered and plan long-range efforts to preserve and manage our surroundings, which is the mission of the Lake County Land Trust.”

With these thoughts in mind, the Land Trust is urging everyone to join the organization for its upcoming benefit dinner on Oct. 3 at Marymount University, Lakeside Campus in Lucerne. This is the Land Trust’s annual benefit dinner and has been presented every year by the Land Trust since 1999, the year that the trust completed its first project — the acquisition of Rodman Preserve near Upper Lake.

The event starts at 4 p.m. with a social hour featuring Lake County wines and Hor d’ouvres, silent auction, tours of the college and live music. Dinner starts at 5 p.m. and will feature guest speaker archeologist Dr. John Parker.

Tickets are $75 per person with a choice of vegetarian or chicken entrée. To reserve and pay, call 262-0707, email lclt@lakecountylandtrust.org or pay and reserve online by credit card using the Donate link at www.lakecountylandtrust.org — in the Comments field please provide the name of each attendee and their entrée choice.

The Lake County Land Trust is a private, non-profit local organization dedicated to preservation of natural habitats in Lake County, including wetlands, forests, and properties with unique scenic, cultural, and agricultural value.
