Bratwurst, wiener dogs and lederhosen will all be common sights on Main Street in downtown Lakeport on Saturday as the annual Oktoberfest celebrates the arrival of fall.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday. Beer, Lake County wines and food will be available all day, with a special beer garden featuring microbrews open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The beer garden costs $30 (advanced ticket rate) for unlimited tasting.

“There’s going to be a lot going on,” said Melissa Fulton, chair of the Lake County Chamber of Commerce.

Saturday’s action includes a raffle, face painting, a dog costume contest and the ever popular dachshund races. Showcase The Band will fill the air with German beer hall music from noon to 5 p.m.

At 6 p.m. the JimiZ Band takes over as the street dance begins.

Of course, the focus much of the day is on beer — local brewers as well as statewide labels will be present — wine and food.

Fresh & Bangin’ will be serving old world fare, including bratwurst, wienerschnitzel and strudel. The Boy Scouts will also operate a station selling brats. HDL Farm remains traditional, but opted to prepare bockwurst. And the Early Lake Lions Club stall offers German chocolate cake, in addition to slow cooked brats.

For those wanting something from another part of the globe, Authentic Mexican Foods serves up tacos, tamales and other favorites while Pit Stop chose to feed the need for appetizers with wings and sliders.

Village Snow Cones will be there to keep things cool.

Oktoberfest is a Chamber of Commerce fundraiser, helping the organization fund year round programs serving local businesses.

“It’s kind of a win-win,” Fulton said. “There’s a lot of entertainment. It’s amazing.”
