A hit and run incident on Tuesday night left two bicyclists with severe injuries and a Lakeport driver and his mother facing charges.
Lakeport police officers responded to a call at approximately 7 p.m. on Tuesday and discovered Corey Bauman and Nicolas Thompson, well known local cyclists on the pavement at Bevins St. near the intersection with Martin St.
An investigation and interviews with witnesses provided officers with a description of the vehicle. Authorities issued a ‘be on the lookout’ call for a Nissan pickup truck. An ongoing investigation pointed to a suspect and on Wednesday morning law enforcement officers arrived at the home of Lynda Lou Lent on George Rd and arrested David Allen Lent after first observing him leave the house and enter the suspected vehicle. His mother, Lynda Lent, was also taken into custody as an alleged accessory to a crime.
David Lent faces felony charges of hit and run causing bodily injury. His bail was placed at $250,000.
Both cyclists were transported by air to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. At press time Bauman remained in critical condition. Thompson was reported in serious condition.
