Lakeport >> Touring nonstop for more than three years, indie folk-rock duo You Knew Me When comes to Old World Tavern on Sunday.
After uprooting from their Nashville home and full-time jobs in June of 2012, the husband and wife set plans to tour the nation for a full year; however, they never stopped. Since that time they have been serving up their craft brewed compositions coast to coast throughout the United States and into Canada, released their first studio album “You, Me, and the Rest of the World,” and have done so as a fully independent entity.
Many miles and memories later, the duo have released their sophomore album “We Found Roads.” Touring in support of their latest release, You Knew Me When will perform a special Sunday brunch show at 11 a.m. with no cover charge at the tavern.
Outfitted with an array of instruments, You Knew Me When are a duo that present a full-band sound. While blending their vocals, Karisa Hoover, who previously served as a tenured Nashville public school music teacher, provides the piano, ukulele, glockenspiel and percussive elements, as Cie Hoover, who spent several years as the Global Events Manager for Gibson Guitar, supplies the guitar and other rhythmic nuances. The cumulative result is a musical style and live show that blends a singer-songwriter soul with a pop/rock mentality.
“We Found Roads” showcases the musical progression of You Knew Me When and the melding of both musician’s styles. At times upbeat and folksy, at times melancholy and introspective, the album is a reflection of mile-markers and moments derived from giving up everything and finding new paths together. Physical and digital copies of We Found Roads are available at www.youknewmewhen.com. The album is also available on iTunes, Amazon and other online retailers.
