KELSEYVILLE >> Kelseyville High School cross country hosted its first Coastal Mountain Conference meet of the year, entertaining squads from Middletown, Clear Lake and Fort Bragg high schools on Wednesday afternoon.

Individual winners on the 3.0-mile course were freshman Andre Williams of Kelseyville in the varsity boys’ division, Amelia Wirt of Fort Bragg in the girls’ division, and Jake Olson of Middletown in the junior varsity boys’ division.

In head-to-head team scoring, Middletown beat Kelseyville 26-29 in varsity boys’ action and 19-38 in girls’ action. Clear Lake’s varsity boys also defeated Fort Bragg 21-34 while the Fort Bragg girls beat Clear Lake 21-37.

Varsity boys

Williams won going away in 18 minutes, 27 seconds, nearly a full minute ahead of Middletown’s Diego Munoz (19:22). In a tight battle for third place, Robert Lozano of Kelseyville (19:38) edged out Clear Lake’s Alex Beare (19:40) and Fort Bragg’s Luc Lamblot (19:41).

Williams has won all three of his races this season, including a victory in the Lake County Meet last month in Upper Lake.

Varsity girls

Like Williams in the varsity boys’ field, Fort Bragg veteran Wirt dominated in the girls’ division, crossing the finish line in 22:35. Tiyanna Meese of Middletown finished second in 23:56 while Clear Lake’s Meghan Beare nailed down third place in 23:57.

Also placing in the top five were Haley Hutchinson of Fort Bragg at 24:12 and Grace Southern of Middletown in 24:35.

JV boys

Middletown’s Olson won the JV boys’ race in 21:21.

Kelseyville hosts another conference meet this coming Wednesday. The Knights will score against Fort Bragg while Clear Lake scores against St. Helena. The racing begins at 3:30 p.m. at the Mountain Vista Middle School course.
