Does anyone care?
“This is what your education system has done to our youth.” Mac McKay (RB 2015/10/1). Does this mean that Republicans no longer control the educational system? Hold on, Bobby Jindal rejected Common Core, so did Chris Christie and etc. So it must be that everything ‘bad’ (i.e. against what Mac believes) is a Democratic conspiracy. Hold on, didn’t Kansas rule that Creationism had to be taught in schools alongside Evolution? until a judge ruled that there was no scientific basis to Creationism.
How many Al Gore lies are in this letter. Al the Nuclear Physicist. I know this is a joke but let me tell you what an actual Nuclear Physicist said. Luis Alvarez, the Physicist who came up with the Impact theory of the end of the dinosaurs, when told by an Archeologist that the fossil record did not support his theory said, “Archeologists are not qualified to read the fossil record.” Al, the “founder of the Internet”. What really disturbs me is when the EPA recently lowered the ozone concentrations allowed, Tom Riordan, CEO of Neenah Enterprises said, “Manufacturers are tough and resilient, but when Washington puts politics above job creation, we still pay a price.” How is making the air safer for older folks like Mac and I to breathe ‘politics?’ Do Republicans only see today and not 20 years down the road? Do our children have suffer because we think that jobs are more important than our future?
Mac is right saying that man has made mistakes, but he then asks why we have to suffer when we are not the worst polluter. With that attitude, no one is going to make the first move. Why should they? China is the worst but they have the greatest population and they haven’t been polluting as long as the US, or so they could argue. Who is to take the first step if not the leading nation in the world? Mac, use your letters to tell drivers to drive slower and purchase more fuel efficient cars and see where that gets you. How many drivers want to give up their speed and power so they can cut the amount they spend on gas? Tell them they can get 75 mpg but it will take them 20 seconds to get to 60 mph. How many takers do you think you will get? Tell them it will cut our fossil fuel consumption in half. Will they care?
So what if Jeb Bush is not related to George W. Over 40 percent of Republicans know that Obama was not born in the US. What are we going to do with these uninformed voters?

Staying focused
While it is a pleasure to read another community member’s opinion in the Record-Bee, whether or not in agreement with my own, as long as it is cogent and to the point, a letter that proceeds as a helter-skelter tirade, cascading and layering one invective upon another, only calls to mind the image of an unfortunate person devoid of reason and dignity, struggling against the bounds of a straitjacket, spewing rant upon rant from spittle-flecked lips. It may be useful to have another person read the text aloud for an independent critique prior to submitting for publication.
