WILLITS >> Quarterback Luke Holt passed for two touchdowns and run for another on Friday night as the Middletown High School junior varsity football team shut out the Willits Wolverines 26-0 in North Central League I action in Willits.

Middletown improved to 2-0 in league play and 3-1 overall with the victory.

Holt, who completed six of 10 passes for 122 yards, hooked up with Jordan Hernandez on a 16-yard score in the first quarter and with Trey O’Neill on a 42-yard touchdown in the second quarter as the Mustangs built a 20-0 halftime lead. Tristan Carlisle, the Mustangs’ leading rusher with 139 yards on carries, rounded out the scoring in the first half with a 1-yard run.

Middletown picked up an insurance touchdown in the third quarter on Holt’s 12-yard run.

Also sparking the offense was running back Drake Harbison with 87 yards on 11 carries.

Middletown’s leaders on defense included linebackers Colton Hall with 10 total tackles and Devin Ross with eight. Harbison also had an interception.

The Mustangs play their first home game since the devastating Valley Fire on Friday night against Fort Bragg at 5:30 p.m.

In other JV action Friday:

Kelseyville 26, St. Helena 0

At St. Helena, Patrick Mick rushed for 125 yards on 13 carries and scored twice as the Kelseyville Knights blanked the St. Helena Saints.

Kelseyville is now 2-0 in league and 4-1 overall.

Haden Hoover also rushed for a touchdown.

Anchoring the Kelseyville defense were J.D. Prescott and John Mendonca with eight solo tackles and four assists each, and Brian Carillo with three sacks.

Kelseyville hosts Cloverdale on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
