MIDDLETOWN >> Relatively few members of the Gibson Museum group attended the regular meeting Tuesday, October 6.
All in attendance agreed that Gibson should not commit to maintaining regular hours to be open to the public for the remainder of this year. Too many of the docents and other volunteers were impacted by the Valley Fire, and haven’t time to participate.
Members who will be at Gibson to work on internal matters may, at their own discretion, put up the Open sign.
Gibson will be available to all interested parties for visiting by appointment. They may send email to gibsonmuseum@gmail.com, leave a message on the Gibson phone — 707-809-8009, or call Mark at 707-994-2754 or Nina at 707-987-2349.
The group unanimously agreed to stage an exhibit recounting the Valley Fire, to be opened for viewing in September 2016. All are eager to participate in collecting appropriate photos, artifacts, stories, oral histories and other materials to mount the exhibit. All interested parties are invited to join the effort, or to forward information and items to be used in the display.
Formal discussion of events and other exhibits and activities for 2016 was tabled, hoping more members will be able to attend the November 3 meeting.
Much of the evening was dedicated to discussion of how the Gibson group can best be of help to victims of the fire and to rebuilding the community.
