KELSEYVILLE >> The Kelseyville Knights jumped back into the win column on Thursday afternoon by shutting out the Lower Lake Trojans 3-0 in North Central League I boys’ soccer action at Kelseyville.

Rebounding from a 3-2 home loss to Middletown on Oct. 1, the Knights, defending league champions, improved to 5-1 in the league standings and 7-1-1 overall behind goals from Enrique Cacho, Victor Cacho and Adrian Villalobos.

“They’ve got a great team and they dominated the stats,” Lower Lake coach Dan Griffin said of the Knights. “They made a couple of great scoring opportunities happen in the second half.” Lower Lake, now 0-5 in league, entered play minus three starters.

Kelseyville led 1-0 at halftime on an Enrique Cacho penalty kick.

Victor Cacho and Villalobos provided insurance goals in the second half.

Forced to wait a week to play because of a bye on Tuesday, the Knights were happy to return to the field and erase the Middletown loss from their memories, according to head coach Eduardo Ledesma.

“We passed the ball better and communicated with each other better than we did in our last game,” Ledesma said of the loss to Middletown.

Kelseyville hosts Willits on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
