Lakeport >> The 1962 film “To Kill a Mockingbird,” screens at the Soper Reese Theatre in Lakeport on Oct. 13 with show times at 1 and 6 p.m.

Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning autobiographical novel was translated to film and won three Academy Awards. Set in a small Alabama town in the 1930s, the story focuses on scrupulously honest, highly respected lawyer Atticus Finch, magnificently embodied by Gregory Peck.

The film is shown in honor of the Lake County Big Read program which is featuring Lee’s novel in the month of October. The Oct. 13 screening will include film clips of local teenagers competing in mock trials. The movie is sponsored by the Lake County Bar Association and is unrated.
