ST. HELENA >> ST. HELENA – Victor Cacho’s hat trick propelled the Kelseyville Knights to a rare win in St. Helena, 6-1, on Thursday during a North Central League I varsity boys’ soccer game.

Kelseyville (7-1 league, 9-1-1 overall) scored four times in the second half to break the game open.

Giovanni Ruiz, Trey Conrad and Eduardo Castellanos also scored for the Knights. Elias Alvarez added a pair of assists.

In other boys’ soccer action Thursday:

Lower Lake 4, Fort Bragg 1

At Lower Lake, the Trojans’ offense finally broke loose with a team-best four goals against the Fort Bragg Timberwolves.

Efrain Santana led the way with two goals and an assist. Luis Pelcastre and Jose Martinez also scored for the Trojans (2-6).

“He’s a guy who knows where to be on every single play of the game,” Lower Lake coach Dan Griffin said of Santana.

M’town 2, Willits 0

At Middletown, Jorge Morales scored in the first half and Jake Samson scored in the second half as Middletown blanked Willits. Saul Padilla and Jonathan Wilson added assists for the Mustangs (5-2-1).

“I’m very happy with the way we played,” Middletown coach Luis Chairez said.

Morales’ goal three minutes into the game put the Mustangs ahead to stay.

Girls’ soccer

K’ville 1, St. Helena 1

At St. Helena, Megan Touros’ goal in the first half staked Kelseyville to the early lead in a game that ended in a 1-1 draw. St. Helena also scored in the first half.

Kelseyville (3-3-3) stopped several St. Helena shots down the stretch.

“The girls for some reason were flat today,” Kelseyville coach Eric Hoefler said. “But to come down here and come away with a tie, we’ll take it.”

Cloverdale 2, Clear Lake 0

At Lakeport, the Cloverdale Eagles shut out the Clear Lake Cardinals, scoring a goal in each half.

“Our defense played very well but out offense didn’t,” Clear Lake coach Paul Larrea said.

Clear Lake is 2-4-3 in league and 3-11-5 overall.

Volleyball

M’town-Clear Lake postponed

At Lakeport, officials were a no-show for the Middletown at Clear Lake matches, which will be rescheduled for a later date. Middletown and Clear Lake still have two matches remaining against each other after the Sept. 22 match in Middletown was postponed because of the Valley Fire.

Lower Lake JVs win

At Lower Lake, the Lower Lake JVs defeated Kelseyville 25-14, 23-25, 15-6 in junior varsity league action.

For Kelseyville, Kaleigh Nunn had five assits and three aces, Emma Larson added four kills, four digs and two aces, Grace Duty had three kills and two aces, and Vanessa Gonzales banged out four aces.
