ST. HELENA >> The Lower Lake Trojans have found their offense. Behind three goals from Luis Pelcastre and two goals and an assist from Efrain Santana, Lower Lake reeled off a third straight North Central League I win, hammering the St. Helena Saints 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon in St. Helena.

Playing on the Saints’ artificial turf field proved to the Trojans’ liking as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead and 5-1 halftime advantage.

“It started raining pretty hard about two minutes into the game,” Lower Lake coach Dan Griffin said of his offense, which has 10 goals in its last two games.

Lower Lake’s defense also continues to play well, a season-long trend, according to Griffin.

“I have four sophomores back there who are doing an incredible job,” he said.

Pelcastre sparked the offense with two quick goals to make it 2-0. Victor Gallegos and Efrain Santana followed with goals before St. Helena got onto the scoreboard. Pelcastre’s third goal for the hat trick pushed the lead to 5-1.

After an 0-6 start in league play, the Trojans now stand at 3-6.
