Middletown >> A volunteer group of practitioners of the healing arts — yoga instructors, massage therapists, holistic healers and counselors, meditation leaders, musicians, and others — will offer their services and talents to the community, free of charge, today and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Middletown Mansion Event Center.
This is a free two-day event for all residents affected by the Valley Fire, as well as anyone involved in the efforts to help heal the community — firefighters, police, city workers, businesspeople, volunteers for other relief groups, etc.
There will be tents, tables and chairs set up to accommodate the practitioners and attendees.
The event is sponsored by SpreadKindness.org, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting kind acts. The co-founders, Maria and Mark Haswell, are also owners of the Danville Yoga & Wellness Center.
“There are many wonderful organizations who have mobilized to meet the urgent and basic needs of the community — food, shelter, clothing and so on. Our intent is to provide for needs that are perhaps less urgent, but just as vital to the well-being of those affected by the fire — those that affect their mind, body and spirit,” said Mark Haswell of SpreadKindness.org.
“In so many situations like this, the effect on people’s well-being lasts long after the event. We want to help serve their need to start healing mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. We felt we were in a unique position to organize this event. It’s a great opportunity to show kindness to those affected by the fire, and our connection to the yoga and wellness community allows us to pull together a group of volunteer healing practitioners who we know can help,” said Maria Haswell of Spreadkindness.org.
