Artoberfest: Ukiah Valley Artists co-op will host an annual art show at Bartlett Hall, 495 Leslie St. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free and there will be a silent auction for an original 20X30 painting created by Jim Colling. The painting will be on display at the Ukiah Valley co-op gallery in the Pear Tree Center. There will be music and a festive German sausage meal with sauerkraut, Potato salad and dessert for $6. Beer will be available. The Co-op Artists will be represented in this annual fundraising event to benefit the Ukiah Senior Center. For information call Jim Colling at 463-0610.

Event: The Ice Cream Social will be held in Bartlett Hall from 2 to 3 p.m. Enjoy a dish of ice cream with toppings and pie for $2. Members over 90 or those coming to the Social in their birthday month will enjoy free admission. But all are welcome to come and enjoy! Entertainment will be provided by “Sounds Promising,” a vocal jazz and pop ensemble featuring Neil Dibernardo, Oni La Gioia, Karen Gowan and musical director Charlie Seltzer. Patrick Henrie, D.D.S, and Wonseok Lee, D.D.S. are the Celebrity Scoopers/Donors.

Support: A free Healthy Living Series will be conclude on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at Ukiah Senior Center’s Administration Bldg., 499 Leslie St. in the Rural Community Housing Development conference room. These Tuesday classes are for people with chronic health conditions or those who live with, or otherwise support people with chronic health conditions. The program covers discussions and exercises on eating well, sleeping soundly and dealing with pain and fatigue. Co-leaders Charlie Seltzer, 972-3191, and Susan Era, 671-5939, will present the series. Pre-registration is required.

Nov. 7

Dance: Join The High Notes from 7 to 10 p.m. at Bartlett Hall, 495 Leslie St. in Ukiah. Price of admission is $10 at the door. For information call 462-4343.

Support: From 2 to 4 p.m., join with other community members over tea and cake to talk about a subject that many find awkward or uncomfortable: Death and Dying. The Death Café is open to all and isn’t based on any particular belief system or philosophy. For information about Death Cafes, visit www.deathcafe.com. The Death Café meets monthly at the Ukiah Senior Center’s Lunch Bunch Room located at the back Administration Building behind Bartlett Hall. Bingo: Bingo lovers are invited to Ukiah Senior Center’s Bartlett Hall for a day of games at 495 Leslie St. This event is open to the community but participants must be 18 years or older to attend. Enjoy a meal of Indian Tacos for $5 served from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Games begin at 1 and ticket sales start at 10. Minimum buy-in is $15 and includes every game. Payout size is dependent on attendance. Minimum payout is $35, every game. Players may get a chance to win one of three $250 payouts. A snack bar will be open all day with hamburgers and hot dogs available. For information call 462-4343.

Bunko: An evening of Bunko will be held at Ukiah Senior Center’s Bartlett Hall, 495 Leslie St., from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Admission is $12, which includes a Bunko game, prize and fabulous food and beverages. Indian Tacos will be served. Everyone wins a prize. Bring a guest and both of you will receive an extra entry for the door prize. All proceeds benefit Ukiah Senior Center. Support: Redwood Caregiver Resource Center will present training on Alzheimer’s for family members and professionals. Facilitator Alexis Glidewell, MSW, will present a video entitled, “Managing and Understanding Behavior Problems in Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders.” The video clips introduce the ABC approach to managing difficult behaviors. This free series of informational videos is presented on the third Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon in the RCHDC conference room at the Ukiah Senior Center Administration Building, 499 Leslie St. Space is Limited. Ice Cream Social: The monthly Ice Cream Social will be held in Bartlett Hall, 495 Leslie St., from 2 to 3 p.m. Enjoy a dish of ice cream with toppings and pie for $2. Members over 90 or those coming to the Social in their birthday month will enjoy free admission. Entertainment will feature the vocal group, The Mendo-C-Notes, performing Holiday favorites. The Celebrity Scooper and Angel Donor for the much sought-after “red ticket” $50 door prize will be Shirley Blattner of Realty World.

11th Annual Thanksgiving Day Meal: The Community is invited to a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner of turkey, stuffing, gravy, mashed and sweet potatoes, green beans, salad, roll, cranberry sauce, assorted pies and beverage. The meal will be served at noon at the Ukiah Senior Center’s Bartlett Hall, 495 Leslie St. Cost is $8 per person. Reservations and advance ticket purchase are encouraged for this yearly sell-out, limited-seating event. Tickets can be purchased at Ukiah Senior Center’s Administration Office.
