Ukiah >> David Ryan, Diane Ryan and Douglas Ware, the owners of Windermere Platinum Real Estate Services, have opened a new Windermere Real Estate Office in Ukiah.
David Ryan is a second generation real estate professional; his parents, Les and Priscilla Ryan, started their own family-run business in Ukiah in 1974, and despite their passing, are still well known and highly regarded by the local community. David Ryan joined the business known as Century 21 Les Ryan Realty in June of 1989, his wife starting a year prior. The decision to downsize the company from 13 offices to one office in Cloverdale was made in 2010 as a way to step back from the real estate business.
The Ryans say that they’ve been drawn back to real estate by Windermere for a variety of reasons, including the company’s commitment to community through the Windermere Foundation, which, they say ended up being the deciding factor.
“We love the fact that a portion of every transaction will be contributed to the Windermere Foundation.”
The Ryans say another reason for joining Windermere was the experience Diane had when she was a relocation specialist.
“Diane dealt with Windermere for years and always had a positive experience,” said David.
Now the husband-wife team is opening up shop right where David’s father began his real estate career more than 50 years ago, at 444 N. State St. in Ukiah. The significance of this is not lost on Windermere’s second-generation leadership, being part of a 43-year-old, family-run company themselves.
The Ryan’s partner, Douglas Ware, spent 12 years working in Ukiah for a family-run real estate appraisal business that specialized in the evaluation of land (residential, commercial sites), single and multi-unit residential dwellings and commercial structures.
Ware said that his goal is to “combine my knowledge and experience in these areas, to deliver the best service to my clients.”
