CLEARLAKE >> The Clearlake Veterans Affairs (VA) Clinic, located at 15145 Lakeshore Drive, will celebrate its fifth year of service to veterans of Lake and Mendocino counties on Monday.

All veterans, their family and friends are invited for light refreshments in the lobby from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“This past six months has been very eventful for our community and clinic,” says clinic director and nurse Carol A. Brown. “Please plan to visit, see how the clinic has grown, and hear about our vision for the future.”

The clinic currently serves 2,000 local veterans annually.

Here are some of Clearlake VA Clinic’s highlights and accomplishments during the past five years:

• Expanded mental health staff — now have two psychiatrists, licensed marriage family therapist and a psychologist.

• Added part-time Department of Housing and Urban Development — VA Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) social worker to assist homeless veterans and participated in three stand-downs for homeless veterans.

• Continue to offer free shuttle service to Santa Rosa VA Clinic and the San Francisco VA Medical Center.

• Provide bus passes for medical appointments for low-income and homeless veterans.

• Have grown from a staff eight to 37 employees. New on-site member service representative and choice champion.
