Lakeport >> The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 88 of Lake County, gave away life jackets at the Heroes of Health & Safety Fair to 131 children 12 years old and younger. A $1,500 grant to the flotilla from Wal-Mart in Clearlake made this possible.

Children were weighed and properly fitted for the life jacket. Information regarding how to be safe on the water, current state laws and other useful information was distributed at the flotilla’s booth. Also, information on becoming a member of the flotilla was available.

The next meeting of the Flotilla will be Nov. 21 at 9:30 a.m, at the Konocti Bay Sailing Club located at Braito’s Marina, 1555 Eastlake Drive, on the Buckingham Peninsula, in Kelseyville.
