Lakeport >> Auditions for Rogers and Hammerstein’s “South Pacific” are scheduled for Nov. 2 and 4 at 6 p.m. at the Lake County Art Gallery, 325 N. Main St., Lakeport. Another audition will be held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 7 at the Lower Lake Museum Theatre in Lower Lake.
This Lake County Theatre Company production will open the first week in March and will need a cast of over twenty sailors, marines, Seabees, nurses and islanders.
The story takes place during WWII on an island. There are two love stories, wild (and lonely) sailors, nurses of many shapes and sizes, island beauties and beautiful music.
Any age, teenager-up is welcome to audition. We even need two younger kids between ages 5 and 11 if they are willing to sing a bit. Auditions will include reading of parts from the script, singing, moving to music and improv. Auditioners are encouraged to look at the show online and become familiar with some of the characters and the music. Not everyone in the cast will need to sing, but if you want to sing, please bring your own CD or accompaniment and be ready to show off.
Rehearsals will start Nov. 9. Set painters, sound techs and costumers are encouraged to become part of the production. For questions, call 350-2520 or 998-0224.
