
SEBASTOPOL >> The Lake County Channel Cats took 10 swimmers to Sebastopol last week to participate in the annual Pumpkin Plunge Swim Meet. More than 300 swimmers competed in a variety of events during the two-day competition.
In the 15-and-over age division, firsts went to Tim Peterson in the 100-yard freestyle, to Max Madrzyk in the 50 freestyle, and to Nikki Hanson in the 200 individual medley (IM). Owen Lawler was fourth in the 200 IM.
In the 13-14 division, Danielle Erickson was third in the 50 freestyle, Isis Martinez came in fourth in the 100 butterfly, and Mikayla Parrott finished 11th in the 100 freestyle.
The two youngest Channel Cats at the meet also did well. Maddy Madrzyk, 10, finished as high as first in the 500 freestyle while Brooke Hinchcliff, 10, placed as high as fifth in the 50 breaststroke. Jadyn Copas, 11, came in ninth in the 50 backstroke.
The Lake County Channel Cats practice at the Quail Run Fitness Center and continue to swim through December. They are currently practicing for upcoming meets in Fort Bragg and Santa Rosa. For information on the swim team, call 263-3131.
