LOWER LAKE >> Efrain Santana’s penalty kick pulled Lower Lake into a 1-1 tie with North Central League I champion Kelseyville late in the first half, but the Knights went on to beat the Trojans 5-1 in the league finale for both of these boys’ soccer teams on Saturday morning in Lower Lake.
Kelseyville (10-1-1 league, 12-1-2 overall) picked up a pair of late first-half goals from Victor Cacho and Eduardo Castellones to grab a 3-1 halftime lead. Cacho scored twice more in the second half to put the game away.
Elias Alvarez opened the scoring in the first half for Kelseyville. He also assisted on Castellanos’ goal to close out the first half.
Lower Lake finishes 3-9 in league play.
Kelseyville, the two-time defending NCL I champion, returns to action Saturday against an opponent to be determined in the quarterfinal round of the North Coast Section Division I playoffs. That game begins at 7 p.m. on the Kelseyville High football field (see story on Page A10).
