LOWER LAKE >> In recognition of Retired Teacher Week, the Lake County Chapter of the California State Retired Teachers Association will host a program on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the Lower Lake Historic Schoolhouse Museum. The event will commence at 11:30 a.m. and end by 1 p.m.
Tony Pierucci, curator of the Lake County Museums will make a 20 to 30 minute presentation on the history of public education in Lake County from the 1850s through the 1930s. Pierucci is currently writing a book on this subject scheduled to be published in the spring.
Other activities planned for the day include a tour of the historic schoolhouse and the ringing of the old school bell to honor all retired teachers. Refreshments will be served.
This event is open to the public. Retired teachers are especially encouraged to attend this program designed to recognize their service to education.
