Kelseyville >> The sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force arrested two and confiscated 32.2 pounds of processed marijuana on Tuesday with a street value estimated to be at more than $20,000.

Serving a search warrant, detectives found Phillip Dennis Murphy, 57, and Cheryl Denise Carr, 60, living at a residence located in the 3000 block of Finley East Road in Kelseyville at about noon, Lt. Steve Brooks, of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), said in a media release.

Murphy allegedly admitted to growing marijuana on the property, but refused to answer any additional questions. He and Carr told detectives that they thought they were following the county codes, Brooks stated. Both suspects were detained without incident and taken to the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility.

During a search of the property, detectives found 21.1 pounds of processed marijuana packaged in 27 individual bags, 11.1 pounds of bulk shake marijuana stored in plastic tubs as well as four firearms, all seized.

Both Murphy and Carr face charges of cultivation of marijuana and the possession of marijuana for sale. Detectives are requesting that the additional charge of being in possession of a firearm while committing a felony is added to both Murphy and Carr’s booking.

“The sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force will continue its efforts to eradicate narcotics from the communities of Lake County and seize the suspected profits of drug trafficking for asset forfeiture whenever possible,” Brooks said. Anyone with information that can assist the task force with this effort is encouraged to call the anonymous tip line at 263-3663.
