Upper Lake >> Lake County Wine Studio (LCWS) is hosting a wine tasting event featuring wine releases from Moore Family Winery and an artist reception with illustrations by Stephen Bellah on Friday, Nov. 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. Stepheny Moore Johnson of Moore Family Winery will meet with guests, and musical duo Majide will appear at the Friday evening reception to entertain.

The $12.50 ($10 per person for studio club members) wine sampler with paired appetizers created by Chef Mark Linback will feature 2014 Sauvignon Blanc with a butternut squash soup, the 2012 Syrah with tri-tip on crostini, 2012 Merlot with Moroccan spiced lamb kebobs, and the 2009 Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc with goat cheese tartlet and dried fig.

Moore Family Winery was established in 1995 by Steve and Robin Moore. The 70-acre family owned organic estate rises almost 3,000 feet above sea level in the Red Hills AVA with breathtaking views of Cobb Mountain. Each year the mountain vineyards endure snow and frost, yielding small dense clusters of intensely flavored fruit that the family crafts into fine “new world” wines. Son Beau Moore acts as Vineyard Manager and daughter Stepheny Moore-Johnson coordinates all events as hospitality manager for the estate, which is a popular location for weddings and music concerts.

The family has long been dedicated to the community of Lake County as active participants in agriculture, education, fundraising benefitting local charities, redevelopment, and earlier this year they purchased the former Rob Roy golf course on Cobb and are in the midst of reviving the course and clubhouse. Both Beau and Stepheny lost their Middletown homes in the recent Valley Fire and have joined the Cobb Strong intention to rebuild.

Lake County Wine Studio is both a gallery for display of arts and a tasting room, wine bar and retail shop for the fine wines of Lake County. Artist’s shows are held on a monthly basis with art and wine receptions held the first Friday and subsequent Saturday of each month.

The gallery is located at 9505 Main St. in Upper Lake. It is open Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 7 p.m. and Friday from 1 to 8 p.m.. The Bellah art show will be on display for the full month of November.
