SAN FRANCISCO >> Empire Mock Trial will hold the second annual Battle of the Bay Mock Trial competition in San Francisco this Nov. 19-23. The West Coast competition will provide an opportunity for aspiring high school mock trial teams to experience the unique educational and social opportunities that have become the cornerstone of all Empire events.
Building on the success of the Empire New York, which has become known as The World Championship and draws teams from around the globe, this West Coast competition allows for students to test their critical thinking and communication skills against the best-of-the-best, in one of the world’s greatest cities
“The goal of Empire Mock Trial is to mold young people into confident, respectful, culturally aware citizens.” said Justin Matarrese, Empire Mock Trial Founder and Executive Director. “We use mock trial as a vehicle for equipping students with the skills that will set them apart from their peers and enable them to succeed in any future career path.”
At this competition, 22 teams from 5 different countries (Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Korea, United States) and 8 states will compete for the title. The students will participate in two trials on Saturday and another two on Sunday at the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California. Members of the San Francisco legal community volunteer their time to evaluate the students.
