
LAKEPORT >> Police are searching for a man believed responsible for a Thursday afternoon burglary in Lakeport.
The suspect reportedly stole items from a home and pointed a handgun at the victim, who arrived during the burglary.
Based upon the victim’s description, authorities say the suspect is a white male in his 30s or 40s. At the time of the incident he was wearing a dark colored baseball hat and a padded heavy jacket. He also had a scruffy beard.
Officer Joe Eastham, a certified police sketch artist worked with the victim to complete a sketch of the man in question.
Police describe the suspect’s vehicle as a 1980s or ‘90s black two door car, possibly a Pontiac. The vehicle is in poor condition and may have damage on the driver’s side. The victim was able to provide a partial California license plate number of 4LNH.
According to Police Chief Brad Rasmussen, the victim arrived at his 5th St. home around 1:15 p.m. to find a suspicious vehicle parked in the driveway. Upon entering the residence, it appeared to the victim as if someone had been inside. He walked out, back toward the driveway and reportedly spotted a man in the vehicle.
The victim told law enforcement officers that as he approached the car, the man pointed a dark colored revolver at him before backing out of the driveway, smashing into the victim’s vehicle and several garbage cans. He then headed north toward 11th St.
The victim indicated that the suspect had loaded several items of stolen property into the car.

Rasmussen cautioned people against attempting to contact the suspect in any way as he is considered to be armed and dangerous.
