LAKEPORT >> The Lakeport English Inn presents its annual “Victorian Christmas Faire and High Teas,” a holiday tradition Lakeport, between November 20 and December 20 this year.

Innkeeper Karan Mackey and her family transform one house of the bed-and-breakfast inn, 675 N. Main St., Lakeport, into an English Tea Room similar to the Pump House in Bath, England. The inn’s other house is filled with numerous tree displays, ornaments, decorations and gifts — “all the delights of the holiday season,” according to Mackey.

The Victorian Christmas Faire is open to the public from 11 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays starting November 20. Admission to the faire is free.

High Tea is served to the public every Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the faire. Seatings for High Tea are at noon and 3:00 p.m. Tea reservations are required. Call (707) 263-4317 to reserve space and inquire about prices.

The innkeepers and tea servers invite guests to enjoy the celebration of Christmas traditions of long ago. Dozens of fully-adorned trees, along with seasonal decorations, ornaments and gifts, fill the rooms and halls at the inn during the annual bazaar.

“You will be transported to a different era as the staff and carolers dress in Victorian style to perform for our guests,” says Mackey. “Our guests have expressed joy in having time to talk with friends and family, taste the delicate tea sandwiches, and get holiday decorating ideas from the many trees.”

A world class, traditional English High Tea is presented by the three sisters and staff. Scones, tarts, tiny sandwiches, Devonshire cream, desserts, shortbread cookies, all prepared with care and attention to detail, complement the tea.

“Come enjoy a glimpse of England,” stated Mackey, who takes pride in presenting her English High Teas in traditional fashion. She has visited many tea rooms in England, and she is unrelenting in making her tea experiences as true to the English tea as possible. Only a few tea rooms exist in Northern California, and she visits those when she has the opportunity.

“We invite Lake County residents and visitors to ring in the holidays with us. We look forward to opening our inn to guests during this special time so that they may enjoy strolling carolers, shop rooms of ornaments and decorations, smell and taste edible creations, and join friends for a proper English Victorian Tea,” said Mackey.
