Lake County’s Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) conference is seeking donations to help fund their “House in a Box” program.

House in a Box provides new basic household furnishings for qualifying families and individuals. The “box” includes beds and bedding, sofa, dining room table and chairs, everything for the bathroom and kitchen except appliances.

SVdP, a 501(c) 3 organization, has been meeting with families at the Middletown Disaster Recovery Center. More than 200 families have signed up for the program to help with their recovery from the Lake County Fires.

House in a Box was started by SVdPUSA Disaster Services Division in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Since its inception 25,000 House-in-a-Box setups have been provided to survivors of disasters across the United States.

To contribute to the program, send donations earmarked for Lake County Fire Victims Relief to: St. Vincent de Paul, 5671 Redwood Dr., Rohnert Park, CA 94928. Call Cherie at 584-1579 to make your donation with a credit card, or contact her by email at cwalker@svdp-sonoma.org. A family of four can be sponsored for $1,850. Donations are tax deductible.
