LOWER LAKE >> Bryce Brin’s debut as the Lower Lake High School varsity girls’ basketball coach couldn’t have gone much better or smoother on Tuesday night as the Trojans rolled past Roseland Prep 55-24 in non-league action at Lower Lake.

“They looked good,” Brin said of the Trojans. “I almost wish it could have been closer so I could have seen my starters more.”

Lower Lake (1-0) led 14-4 after one quarter, took a 30-15 lead into halftime, and had the game wrapped up with a 45-17 advantage through three quarters.

Aleia Milano led the Trojans with 13 points, Katelyn Ferrell added 11 and Samantha Caires finished with seven. Nine Lower Lake players cracked the scoring column as Brin went to his bench early and often.

“It was a good team win,” said Brin, who likes the pieces he has to work with on his 2015-16 squad. “I have seven girls who can actually start.”

The Trojans have two tough tests in a row coming up. They host St. Patrick/St. Vincent of Vallejo on Thursday night before hitting the road Friday to play Berean Christian in Walnut Creek.

“It’s nice to be coaching at my alma mater,” said Brin, a Lower Lake graduate.

Lower Lake also won the junior varsity game on Tuesday, beating Roseland Prep 48-18 behind 17 points and two 3-pointers from Vanessa Hughes and nine points from Ayvree Smith.
