For the past two years, the girls of Girl Scout Troop 10686 in Lake County have been diligently working on their Bronze award. The Girl Scout Bronze award is given to girls who give back to their community in a way that makes permanent changes in the community for the better. Each girl must complete 20 hours in order to earn her Bronze Award, which is the Highest Award a Girl Scout Junior can earn. Troop 10686 put together 185 “care packs” for children 5-16 years of age. These are back packs filled with toiletries like hair brushes, shampoo, body wash, tooth brush and paste, blanket, toys and coloring books. The girls will be at Library Park in Middletown on Dec. 6 to hand out the care packs. The event will begin at 10 a.m. and go until all packs have found a new home with a child. If you were affected by the Lake County fires and your child would like a care backpack, please come on down. No questions asked, just smiling faces and lots of love and caring.
