LOWER LAKE >> It’s not often you see two teams combine for 164 points, but that’s exactly what the St. Patrick/St. Vincent and Lower Lake varsity girls’ basketball teams did on Thursday night in a non-league game at Lower Lake.

The Bruins of Vallejo prevailed 94-70 in a run-and-gun battle.

“They have about 10 guards and they’re all quick,” Lower Lake coach Bryce Brin said. “They race you up and down the court and shoot 3s (3-pointers).”

St. Patrick/St. Vincent led 36-17 after one quarter and 59-30 at halftime. The Trojans (1-1) scored 40 points in the second half to keep it interesting.

Lower Lake’s sophomore trio of Samantha Caires, Katelyn Farrell and Aleia Milano combined for 58 points, with Caires leading the way with 24 and Farrell adding 21.

“Caires and Farrell had very good games,” Brin said.

St. Patrick/St. Vincent, a 72-34 winner over Antioch in its season opener on Nov. 25, is 2-0 on the season.

Lower Lake did win the junior varsity game 57-9 behind 18 points from Vanessa Hughes and eight from Anahi Robles. The JV Trojans are 2-0.

Both Lower Lake teams are back in action tonight when they travel to Walnut Creek to play Berean Christian.
