Lakeport >> Toys for Tots and the United States Marine Corps Reserve’s annual Christmas toy drive is underway, with boxes scattered at retail locations throughout the county. Founded in 1947, Toys for Tots serves all the communities surrounding the lake, with the mission to distribute toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas.
The Lake community businesses’ and community members have been working hard volunteering and giving to increase the number of toys passed out this year due to the fires. Fire victims are welcome. Toys for Tots is working together with Congressmen Thompson to make sure no child goes without a toy for Christmas. When you see a Toys for Tots large box in a store please donate to bring joy to a girl or boy living in Lake County.
There will be one pass-out date for parents and guardians to select the toys they want for their children for Christmas. Toys will be distributed on Dec. 19 at Burns Valley Elementary School, at 3620 Pine St., Clearlake in the Multi-purpose Room from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
