LAKEPORT >> Rodrigo Lupercio took home most valuable player honors as the Clear Lake Cardinals beat the Kelseyville Knights 50-37 in the championship game of the Clear Lake JV Tournament on Saturday in Lakeport.

“He’s a shutdown defender,” Clear Lake coach Phil Psalmonds said of Luperio, who was joined on the All-Tournament team by teammates Lucas Stahr, Jake Elsa, Tanner Cole and TJ Marcks.

Marcks led the Cardinals with 12 points while Stahr and Austin Davis added eight points apiece.

Adrian Villalobos led the Knights with 15 points.

M’town 58, Lower Lake 57 (OT)

Middletown claimed third place with a win over Lower Lake as Colton Hall led the Mustangs with 14 points. Noah Brown added nine, Trey O’Neill had eight and Victor Guzman chipped in with seven, four coming in the overtime period.

“It was a great win for the team and it’s a great start to our season,” Middletown coach Jon Hoogendoorn said.
