LAKEPORT >> Grace Davidson led the way with 16 points and was later named most valuable player as the Clear Lake High School junior varsity girls’ basketball team won its tournament with a decisive 56-38 victory over the Cloverdale Eagles in the championship game Saturday in Lakeport.
Kortnie Reynolds added 15 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, and Cassondra Bassett had nine points. Reynolds and teammate Brooklyn Jenkins, who had six points, joined Davidson on the All-Tournament team.
Cloverdale defeated Lower Lake 58-50 to reach the championship game. Clear Lake knocked off St. Helena 52-21 in the other winner’s bracket semifinal behind 15 points from Davidson, 12 from Jenkins and seven from Reynolds. Lower Lake went on to beat St. Helena in the third-place game.
Kelseyville, a first-round loser to Lower Lake on Friday, came back on strong Saturday to claim the consolation championship. The Knights hammered Mendocino 48-8 in the consolation semifinals behind 12 points form Brisa Villa, eight from Bib Hamner and seven Bailey Couey. Later in the day, Kelseyville routed Upper Lake 52-9 for the consolation crown as Villa led the way with 14, Couey had 13 and Grace Duty 10.
Duty was named to the All-Tournament team.
