ORLAND >> The Kelseyville Knights battled down to the wire but couldn’t overcome a 38-point night from Anderson High School senior guard Kilee Hannan in the championship game of the Orland Tournament on Saturday night in Orland.

Hannan scored 38 points in Anderson’s 66-62 victory.

“She took that game over at the end,” Kelseyville coach Jim Hale said. “She hit some big shots.”

Kelseyville (8-2) trailed 32-23 at the half but used a 22-16 third quarter to get back within three points of Anderson entering the final period.

While the Knights never took the lead in the fourth quarter, they did pull even on one occasion, according to Hale.

“The effort from my girls was incredible,” Hale said.

Kelseyville freshman guard Payton Conrad led the Knights with 21 points while Riley Goff and Alma Perez added 17 and 14 points, respectively. Goff was named to the All-Tournament team.

“We played at a competitive level with some great teams,” Hale said of the Knights’ tournament experience. “The girls enjoyed it.”

Kelseyville’s final game before the holiday break is Wednesday at home against St. Joseph Notre Dame of Alameda. Junior varsity action tips off at 2 p.m.

In the junior varsity division of the Orland Tournament, Kelseyville beat Corning 32-29 in the third-place game behind 13 points from Bib Hamner and eight from Kendyll Nunn. Tymeka Green of the Knights was named to the All-Tournament team.

The two teams were tied 29-all with a minute to play when Kelseyville’s Bailey Couey made a basket and drew a foul on the play. She added the free throw to complete the three-point play.

“The game was a big nail-biter,” Kelseyville coach Don Green said.
