CORNING >> The Golden State Wrestling Club of Upper Lake sent four of its members to the Battle of the Badge tournament on Sunday in Corning.
Gabriella Fernandez and Alexis Peregrina scored a pair of first-place finishes. Fernandez went 4-0 in the girls’ bracket before losing twice by points in the boys’ bracket. Peregrina went 4-2 overall with three pins, placing first in the boys’ bracket and third in the girls’ bracket. She also earned the most valuable wrestler award.
Hayden Fowler finished third in both the 89- and 97-pound weight divisions, going 5-2 overall.
Gage Faa’lelea also competed for Golden State.
