HEALDSBURG >> In a non-league game that was close throughout, the Healdsburg Greyhounds edged the Lower Lake Trojans 50-47 in varsity girls’ basketball action on Saturday at Smith Robinson Gym in Healdsburg.
Lower Lake (9-5) was playing its second straight game without starting point guard Samantha Caires, who sustained a concussion in the Trojans’ league-opening loss at Middletown last week. Aleia Milano, coming off a season-best 25-point effort the night before in a win over St. Helena, led the Trojans with 17 points against the Greyhounds. Ashlynn Mock joined her teammate in double figures with 12 points.
The two teams were never separated by much and the game was tied at 37 entering the final period.
Lower Lake won the junior varsity game 56-15 behind 14 points from Vanessa Hughes and seven from Skylar Watson.
Both Lower Lake teams return to league action tonight at home against Fort Bragg beginning at 5:30 p.m.
