CORCORAN >> Aiden Dancer of the Golden State Wrestling Club of Upper Lake didn’t let a little thing like being unseeded get in his way last weekend in the 8-and-under 58-pound bracket at the Cal Republic Invite in Corcoran.

Dancer spent less than four minutes on the mat to win his first three matches, all by pin. That put him in the championship match where he beat Aaron Rodriguez of the Hollister Warriors by 10-0 major decision.

For his victory, Dancer received a medal, a champion singlet and a bear trophy.

While Dancer was competing in Corcoran, other Golden State club members traveled to Rocklin for the Cal Grizzles Winter Classic. Gabriella Fernandez went 4-1, including a pin and two wins by technical fall, while finishing second in her weight class. Her lone loss was by decision. Also finishing second was Alexis Peregrina with a 3-1 record that included three pins. Like teammate Fernandez, her only loss was by decision.

Another Golden State member, Hayden Fowler, came in third with a 1-2 record.
