Another account
While I agree 100 percent with Rev. Shannon Kimbell-Auth concerning the homeless, I feel she left out the alternate story of Jesus’s birth and upbringing. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus is born in Bethlehem, travels to Jerusalem with his parents for a sacrifice and ritual cleansing and then home to Galilee to return every year to Jerusalem, for Passover, until Jesus was 12. These two different accounts are irreconcilable, though I have seen attempts (unsuccessful) to reconcile them.

Regarding Lakeside Heights
As I saw in the Record Bee the houses are starting to slide down the hill just like I predicted last winter. I understand that the homeowners are suing the County of Lake and the County of Lake has hired a lawyer to defend it. As we all know everything was permitted in that whole subdivision from start to finish. We are fighting those home owners with tax payer funds from one tax payer group to fight another.
I believe that the homeowners purchased land and home in good faith and it was permitted by the County of Lake, with proper inspections, proper engineering and proper permits. Due to the fact that the county way back when made some kind of a faulty inspection and now the determination is that it’s the homeowners responsibility, after the homeowners have lived there, purchased the house and/or lot, built the with proper inspections we are still no where. They have paid taxes, they have made payments, and now they have zero. No value, nothing to sell, and cannot purchase insurance.
I believe it is time for the County of Lake to bite the bullet and turn this whole mess over to the Lake County insurance so the insurance companies can compensate these people for their loss, in some cases $200-$250,000. It is very unfair when you use taxpayer monies to fight another taxpayer, when these taxpayers have no fault in any way, shape or form. More and more homes will come down, everything the county spent money on to put the dirt back that washed down it before, the county paid to have it pushed back up and cover it with a tarp … was a waste of more money that could have helped the taxpayers and the homeowners versus adding to the problem. The problem is still there and getting worse.
I feel that it is very, very unfair to all these homeowners of Lake County and the taxpayers of Lake County because this could be anywhere, the Rivieras or any other area where there are homes on hills, when the county has approved the excavation and building permits. I feel that our board being as educated as they are all of this is not there fault but it is time to make a decision to make the wrong right for Lakeside Heights.
Thank you for your consideration, I know our board has a heart.

Thanks for the support
The Miss Lake County Scholarship Program would like to thank all of our sponsors and community members and families and friends of our contestants for supporting our Pageant this year, and a special thank you to County Supervisor Rob Brown for his wavering support and faith in our scholarship program. We also want to thank the Lake County firefighters for participating in our Pageant as Contestant Escorts and for all their help in saving our beautiful Lake County Community during the devastating fires last year.

An illogical thing
It appears that Greg Blinn, an avowed atheist (R-B, 6/30/2015) does not want to acknowledge the obvious, which is that when you couple Bible prophecy with modern day prophecy there is no denying the fact that there must be a God, because only an all-knowing God could have inspired the many hundreds of prophecies that have resulted in fulfillment with no erroneous predictions.
But apparently this is not good enough for Mr. Blinn. Unless he has 100-percent ironclad proof for something he’s not going to believe it. The problem with that is that on this one particular planet where man has a fallen nature you can’t have God totally revealed (i.e., 100-percent proof) because the end result would have us as partial automatons in the sense that we would be obeying God out of fear.
Therefore, it is unreasonable to have an inflexible attitude on this matter because perfection demands that we have a free will that is not tainted by coercion from God. Coercion is evil’s department. In other words, for God to fully reveal Himself to fallen man would be a not-so-subtle form of coercion and intimidation.
The irony is that Mr. Blinn thinks he is doing the logical thing by demanding proof, but it turns out that demanding proof is actually the illogical thing in this particular case.
